How do I get the exact ascii character (like ''a'' ''A'' '','' ''5'' etc) from WM_KEYUP and/or WM_KEYDOWN? Thanks

The easiest way would be to handle the WM_CHAR message, instead of the WM_KEY* messages.

Fine, that works, but now I''m not sure how to get the repeat count out of the variable posted to me with the WM_CHAR message. I was using WM_KEYUP because of that

Pass the code from WM_KEY* messages to GetKeyNameText().

The main drawback is I don''t think you''ll get any processing for users of the IME (Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc).
