Direct Input

Hi, i''m just asking this as a complete dummy to Direct X but.. Whats the point of using Direct Input when you can access user input throught the windows api? Is it better in any way? Thx, -J

DI gives you direct access to the input devices.

Let''s put it this way:

Would you rather stand in line and order your happy meal and wait while they get it for you, or would you rather go get the burger yourself?

Yes in SOME situations, using the win32 api is a better way to go, but for the most part DirectInput is tops. Direct access to
the hardware beats waiting for windows event messages anyday..
