Does anyone know how you would be able to make a directdraw surface and a direct3d8 surface work together? for instance, make them compatible so that they could be copied to each other, or so that you could render in directx 8 to a directx 7 surface?

simple. use Lock()/Unlock() to copy the data. stupid to do this though since its smarter to stay with one version of dx. why do you need to do this? (you could use d3d that is a part of dx7 and make your life easier).

lol, we started synchronizing the game pretty late, and im doing the rendering while the other guy is tying the whole thing together, so it would take less development time like this.

Actually, when you say Lock()/Unlock, are you talking about vertex buffers? Cause im rendering straight xfiles without manually involving them.
