In researching my terrain color issue, I noticed that the terrain is stored in RGB565 format (16bit color). Are there any future plans to support 32bit color?

No, because this would require an additional 25 megs of system RAM just to hold the terrain textures.

Any chance of 24bit? Just that we''re drawing alot of our terrain by hand and we''re getting some banding.
I have no plans on changing it. You have the ability to change it yourself with the high level engine though. The shadow routines would need to be modified to handle different bit depths when drawing shadows on the texture. Other than that you just have to change the texture format in the LS_InitializeTerrainMaterials routine.
