Triangles -> Triangle Strips

I wrote a simple loader for MilkShape3D Models and from what I know MilkShape just throws all the vertices in a file and adds information about the triangles and groups, but has no special order for the data, so that I could use triangle-strips, so I''m trying to find a way to create a triangle-strip model out of those many triangles. Does anyone know how to accomplish that? Or a good tutorial? Or just a paper on the topic? I didn''t find myself able to find anything, but there must be a way, because MilkShape can export MD2, which consists of triangle-strips or fans
