I''ve found this on a newsgroup. I don''t know if it is true, but it sounds pretty plausible to me.

"Ask for double buffering, and if the card supports triple buffering, the card has enough memory for the screen size to support triple buffering, and the driver supports triple buffering, then you will automatically get triple buffering.

There is no way to test or force triple buffering with OpenGL.

well i dont think this is right.
i tried the following to test how many buffers i have:

gl:ClearColor(1,0,0)--set clearcolor
video:clear()--clear screen
video:screenshot("shot1.tga")--this shot is red

video:flip()--swap the buffers

gl:ClearColor(0,1,0)--set clearcolor to green
video:clear()
video:screenshot("shot2.tga")--this shot is green

video:flip()--swap again and...
video:screenshot("shot3.tga")--look which color it is

shot3 is red! that means i have only 2 buffers!(on a geforce3 with 64megs...)

also im wondering about this:
when im in fullscreen mode and i hit alt+tab the console of my game pops up, but the game runs as usual. the console-window is in the fullscreen window of my opengl app now. in direct3d that was not possible in fullscreen mode. also i get quite bad framerates...

I don''t know really. I''ve got an ATI card myself and I can''t find the triplebuffering option either.

Isn''t there anyone on this forum who has used triple buffering in OpenGL?
