2D C++ Tutorials?

The GameDev articles are all advanced and I need beginner stuff. I haven''t programmed any graphics, just text, and I want to start learning to use bitmaps etc. Anyone know of any good tutorials (in C++)?

Do you mean "*.bmp" files with bitmaps,
or "digital pictures" in general?
Do you want to learn basics, ie how a "screen" is organized
in memory, and play around with self written
image displaying functions (pixel by pixel), to gain some programming experience in that sector, or do you just want to know how you *let* display bitmaps with some API ?

If what you mean is that you want to make bitmaps and load them into your game, you should learn SDL or DirectDraw. I suggest SDL because its as good as DDraw and alot simpler. Theres a few links to SDL stuff in my profile. Start at gamedev.net''s SDL tutorials.
