IN most RTS''s we get the sort of shaded junk that is often called Fog of War. Baldurs Gate has a sort of shading type thing like that, and i think some other games of that sort do to. My question is about how exactly to achieve that effect. I thought about how BG does it. I''m guessing that they used alpha shading to darken it. But in 3D, would i use lighting? Would the central character have a point light in him? Or perhaps there would be a spotlight/directional light shining down on him? WHat''s the best way to do this? What about the Diablo effect, where sections of the level are completely black until you go near? ----------------------------- The sad thing about artificial intelligence is that it lacks artifice and therefore intelligence.
