difference between these api's, dsound, dmusic, mcis, midiouts, waveouts functions..
they are all low level functions... you can also mix sounds in them... then what's the difference?
and, can you also specify what each function capable to do only? like direct sound is used to play wav files ONLY...

one more thing, can i use micSendString() function to play midi and simulteneuosly use directsound to play wave files? i don''t it''ll work, and how do i stop the midi playing? it just kept on playing even when i quit my program hehe,

try sdl www.libsdl.org it handles most formats mixes etc its a total package + is quite easy to learn/use
