How do I edit the graphics in NeHe Zelda. I know I need to edit the world.dat file but how do i do that? Also, can someone give me a tutorial that explains how to make a tilemap?

Hi, just open the world.dat in notepad and you should be
able to edit it.

I think that world.dat is a .tga file, you should be able to rename it (something like world.tga) and load it into something like Paintshop Pro.

The Zelda code for drawing a tilemap is pretty straight-forward, the functions you are looking for are ZeldaMap::Draw() and ZeldaMap::DrawTile(), both in ZeldaMap.cpp

you''re looking at something like:
you have a 2d array of values indexing "tiles" on your texture map.

for(every row of tiles visible on the screen)
{
for(every column of tiles visible on the screen)
{
draw tile specified by array[current column, current row]
}
}
