Loading In Cube Map Textures

I can create a cube map using the CreateCubeTexture(..) call, but i cant actually add the texture i want. I have tried using D3DXCreateCubeTextureFromFile(..) and all its accociated functions, but they all return FAIL, but the fail message it returns isnt recognised by directX as one of its error messages! Any help would be appreciated Lee

The example in the SDK works, but that renders to the cube map every frame, which is far to slow for what I want. I want to load in a texture at the very start from a .dds file and use that for my cube mapping
