i am going to try to make a tetris clone. so how do i get(into)Direct3d do i download it somewere or does it come with my comp or somthing?

You have to download the SDK. That gives you all the examples, help files, .DLL''s, .H, .LIB files, etc etc etc

this one is probably better answered in the general prog. forum but...
SDK = Software Development Kit
Its a collection of libraries with documentation that explains how they should / could be used and perhaps also demos that show how they can be used and a few utilities to help write those specific apps with the SDK.

With DirectX you have a bunch of different libraries - D3D for graphics, DirectSound for sound etc. You also have the help that explains how to use them and a bunch of demos and a few tutorials also. DX also includes some utilities and debugging stuff also.
