Simple triangle has noise in D3D, any ideas?

My program is drawing a simple solid triangle in windowed mode as well as a box created with D3DXCreateBox(). The box is solid, but the triangle seems to be suffering from random noise across its surface -- the colours change slightly, and it looks like tearing. If it wasn''t for the fact that the box is solid, I would say that this is due to the frame rate being too high (600fps). Can someone explain to me why I might have this noisey tearing across my triangle?

Never mind, I found that I hadn''t called SetTexture(0, NULL) at the start of the frame, so I guess D3D was trying to map a bumb texture to the triangle.
