hey! im relitively knew to programming (in comp sci 2) and i wanna learn directx...reeaally bad! I checked this site and i can''t find much for people with no directx experience (maybe i just can''t find it) anyway... I''m also wondering what compiler is best...i have borland but i''ve heard visual c++ is better... thanks I wish i knew directx...

Borland''s compiler is better in optimzing code in means of size and somtimes performance. It''s also more ANSI compatible than Micosofts VC6 compiler. The only problem is that the dx 8.1 libs are not compatible with borlands compiler. You have to find and download them yourself as they are not part of the dx sdk. Anyway, for DX developement I prefer MS VC, because of the better support. For everything else (GUI and Database stuff) I use Borland C++ Builder.

Try nexe.gamedev.net and click "All" under the tutorials section, work your way down the list.

I use VC++ because more people use it so it''s easier to get help.
