This is not gamedev related but what does it matter. I have three problems with OpenOffice. Firstly the annoying addres window pops up always when I start OpenOffice. Secondly I can''t save my documents. Error saving the document demo.xls. Wrong parameter. the operation was started under an invalid parameter. Then it exits, without saving anything! Thirdly default folder when I open file is always /root. grrr! Really annoying.

You probably installed OpenOffice as root, so it defaults to /root, and you can''t write to the /root directory as a plain user.

Eitehr install it in your home directory, or if you want to do a network install (ie keep one big copy in say, /usr/local and have your users just copy the files required to run it), do this:

as root, in the OpenOffice install directory:
./setup /net

install it in a non-user directory (I installed it in /usr/local/openoffice).

then, as a plain user, type:
/usr/local/openoffice/setup

Choose "typical workstation installation" or something like that. It will prompt you to create a directory in your home directory and create some links there. I manually linked some other programs as well (it only linked soffice).

Hope this helps.

I had installed it as root and reinstalled it to my home directory since I''m the only user.

Thanks AP, it works now

What''s wrong with StarOffice binary installation files. I''v downloadewd many time and always fails.
file not found... bla bla bla

I''v tried the big file and several smaller files for installation but without success.

Now the big 95MB file:
$ chmod 777 *.bin
$ ./so-5_2-ga-bin-linux-en.bin
$ (it does nothing)

Earlier download said segmentation fault if I remember correctly.

Help!!! Heeelpp!!!

May it be that the downloaded file is corrupted while download?
