Is there a way to do per pixl lighting calculations?

per pixel DOT3 is very fast. You just have to do the per vertex setup by hand (on the CPU) or write a HW vertex shader on GF3+ for the surface-space light vectors.

this is true if theyre done in hardware the tnt2 + below only handle this in software. gf''s + radeons do it in hardware

basically the better the perpixel lighting method the slower it is dot3 is about the simplest/quickest
