I am making a simple windows base game and I need to display bitmaps for the HUD. I was planning on doing this just using the WinAPI, but do you think I should use DirextX for a simple thing such as this? If you thing I should do this using the GDI, could you tell me how to do it with bit maps loaded as a resource?

I don''t really have all the experience that you probably want when it comes to this question, but I would use whatever you are using for the rest of the game. That is, I would use keep all the processes as standard as possible.
