1600 x 1200 on KyroII

I run my desktop (and other things (including QIII with backbuffer and 32 bit color with Z and Alpha) where possible) in 1600x1200 mode, but DX8.1 seems not to want to use 1600 x 1200 (ColorDepth A8R8G8B8, 1 Backbuffer, No Z). When I look through the DXCapsViewer, 1600 x 1200 is NOT on the list of display modes. My monitor says it doesn''t support 1600 x 1200 mode, so under display properties (Settings, Advanced, Monitor), I have to deselect "Hide modes that the monitor cannot display". System Details: (Hercules Kyro II (64MB). Windows XP. Visual C++ 6.0. Mitsubishi DiamondScan 17HX Monitor. DX8.1 SDK) Is there any way to force DirectX to try a screen mode? Is it likely my monitor (and not the card) is preventing DX from using the mode? Thank for all help Simon Hill

It''s likely the windows drivers are telling DX that the monitor doesn''t support that res, and unfourtuneately I have no idea how to force it.
