Could someone please explain to me how animation relates to game programming? What are the most common practices/algorithms? How are models animated in current games like q3? Terminology? Example implimentations? Follow up articles/tutorials? Thanks in advance.

If you have ever seen a commercial for a video game, you''ve seen one use of animation. Almost every one I have ever seen shows only prerendered cutscenes, which I feel borders on false advertising. Animation, however, is used in games for real-time graphics. Player models in most 3d games are great examples. Also, 2D games use classic frame based animation. Hope this helps you.
