my instructor is not really helping me understand when it comes to the hardstuff

I have more of an understanding when I do it my self and just read the chapter... I do admit the lecture does help me to remember it because of repatition... but some times in class He makes really lost and the night before I completely understand it and I do after class as well...

You didn''t mention which particular topic you are being instructed in. Whichever area of programming it happens to be, mass confusion and frustration is a natural side-effect. Take it to mean that you are learning. Or, perhaps, that your instructor speaks incoherent gibberish. Never mind that, though, a lot of programming concepts come across as incoherent gibberish until you know what they are about.
