Sample Rate of Direct Audio?

After checking the documetation of direct audio and having implemented all in my engine i have not found out what output sampling rate the direct audio interface uses for outputing wave files. Please can someone tell me what sampling rate DA uses and if it is possible to change it? When calling IDirectMusicPerformance8::InitAudio, you can specify an IDirectSound object to use. That IDirectSound object determine the settings. If, instead, you specify NULL and let the performance object use an internal DirectSound object, it will use (I''m most certain) 22khz, 8-bit, mono (which is the default DirectSound settings).
