The color matrix and glDrawPixels()

Hi! When I draw an image with glDrawPixels() everything works fine. But when I change the contrast or brightness with glScalef() and glTranslatef() on the color matrix, the rendering slows down A LOT! This only happens when I draw with glDrawPixels(). Is it supposed to be like that? Is there any way to make it faster? Thanks!

color matrix is prolly not supported on your card thus gets done in software (hence the slowdown)

But it''s not slow if I draw textured quads or triangles, only when I draw with glDrawPixels()...Anyways, is there a way to change the contrast, brightness etc. without making any changes to the color matrix?
