Alright brace your selves... I want to make games but i have not one clue about game creation, what type of people do you need for a team to build with you? i know you need programers, artists, and muscicians but who else do you need? if i wanted to make a game for playstation two with a team how would someone in my team asign actions to the playstation controlers? and how would i get the game to cd''s? alright, if everyone does there job in a team (the programers program, the artists model charectors and such, and the muscicians make music how do you get it all together into a game?! Ok, a game was just maid, how does somebody get it published and marketed? does it take much money to get it marketed? You have an online team and youve done your part and your team might have done there part but you cant ever get a responce back, how do you get them to respond? your new to game creation were do you start? you want to lead a team, you have the ideas (who the charectors are, what the weapons are, you thought of what controls are what in the game, and you thought up a great story) and you dont have a talent besides ideas, would it be ok if you modeled too just so your actualy doing some work for the team then just thinking up a game for the team to make? how do you determine how many discs your game should be? do you need a lisence to make games for a console? how do you get a commercail for your game or an add for you game in a magazine? how far up is game creator in the job foodchain (how much money do you make?) i have plenty of other questions to bogle you guys with, i would love for somebody to answer these some how , any how thank you for your time, austin atendido

OK...you''ve forgot the designers and the testers:-)
And it''s your program(sometime called an engine) that drives all those things,in an engine there will be codes deal with input, graphics, sound, etc.
But warning,it''s not easy to dev games for a console(PS2,i.e.),
you''ll have to get the permission from the company and buy dev tools from it.If you''re a beginner,I suggest you dev PC games.
And it''s not easy to manage a team or to release your products.
Before you move on,you''d better read some articles on them.
That''s all, good luck and have fun making games!

You''re getting way ahead of yourself with some of your questions, but for some reason, I feel inclined to answer them anyway. Do yourself a favor and read the articles here first.

If you''re just starting out, you probably don''t want to put a team together. For now, you''ll be better off learning how to do things on your own. Otherwise, you''ll have nothing to contribute to a team.

i know you need programers, artists, and muscicians but who else do you need?

Others who are dirctly involved in game creation include producers, production assistants, testers, level designers, and game designers.

Why are you worried about the details of making games for the PS2? Assuming that you could get the $20,000 (or so) for a single development kit, Sony isn''t going to give you one unless you can convince them that you can create a profitable title.

alright, if everyone does there job in a team (the programers program, the artists model charectors and such, and the muscicians make music how do you get it all together into a game?!

Again, you''re getting way ahead of yourself if you need to ask this. The short answer is that the programmers write code to load and display the art and play the music.

Ok, a game was just maid, how does somebody get it published and marketed?

You show it to publishers and try to find one that''s interested, or you try online distribution.

does it take much money to get it marketed?

Yes.

You have an online team and youve done your part and your team might have done there part but you cant ever get a responce back, how do you get them to respond?

The only way you can get them to respond is to have a game that they think is marketable.

your new to game creation were do you start?

This is really the only question you should have asked. Follow the link I gave you above.

you want to lead a team, you have the ideas (who the charectors are, what the weapons are, you thought of what controls are what in the game, and you thought up a great story) and you dont have a talent besides ideas, would it be ok if you modeled too just so your actualy doing some work for the team then just thinking up a game for the team to make?

Look here for some articles about where being the "idea guy" will get you.

how do you determine how many discs your game should be?

By how much data you have.

do you need a lisence to make games for a console?

For the ones that matter, yes.

And that's all that matters!!

Even tho Myopic's right in you getting ahead of yourself, since you asked so many questions, I'll ask and answer one more for your benefit, since a lot of people starting out like to consider this idea:
quote:

Should I send my game ideas to companies to see if they like them?

No. Due to legal issues, if a company receives a game idea or document or some type of original work, it will be immediatly destroyed. I know this sounds harsh, but if the company reads it and makes a game that is similar to it, they can be sued by the person. So don't try attention grabbing with game ideas.
