3D or 2D?

diablo 2 was done in 3D, u can tell by the way the objects scroll when at the top of the screen, u see different angles of them(just slightly)

It seems the boundries between 3d and 2d are getting blurred :-)

I havent played Diablo, but from what those guys said I think it uses pre-rendered 3d graphics, to create an isometric scene.
Though it could use 3d hardware to do this..
