Console in GL

Hi, I''m doing a console for my game. I currently using the blending technique and was wondering if I should use the masking technique instead. What do you guys use? I think Scissor Testing isn''t necessary. I really just what to check errors with my console (display scrollable text using 2d font). Anyway, what do you guys think? Thanks

no if u want to mask use the alphatest instead
