Tree Generator

Does anyone know of a good tree generator that canexport to some common format such as 3ds. Preferably free. I Don''t want to "desgin" the trees just set a few parameters and options push a button. A 3dsmax4 plugin would also be nice.. It''s for (maybe commercial) use in a 3D game. .Pangplast

You probably want an "l-system" parser - basically, they just take some recursive code in a simple grammar and produce a 3D file based on that. I know at least one free such program exists - it''s called l-parser, and it should be available in http://www.xs4all.nl/~ljlapre/ . It produces various file formats that are very simple to read (and probably convert to 3DS).
There can only be one: XFrog from Greenworks. You''ll hardly find a better, more complete and realistic tree generator. But it''s not easy to use, if you want to start a tree from the beginning on. Though, it comes with a *huge* tree library, you could just use that. There is a fully functional 30 day trial version you can download. Just one warning though, since the Windows version is a direct SGI Irix port, the interface design is 100% Unix style. But it''s nice, once you get used to it.

Another good one is OnyxTree. Also very realistic, but very expensive.
Thanx all.. Don''t think I want to generate tree myself though. Anyhow.. XFrog sounds nice. I''ll try it. Anyhow I found this program called (conviniently) "Tree Generator", It''s pretty lousy byt it actually makes pretty good trees once they show up in 3ds. It costs 20$ and that''s good enough for me. Anyhow I''ll check out XFrog though...

Thanx..
