graphics programming and theory book for Beginners

Inside DirectX is a good book, but it does not have anything about graphic programming or theory (just DirectX). The LaMothe Windows Tricks books does, but you have to be careful because the math in the book as some errors in it (things like incorrect signs and missing reciprocals). If you know algebra, you should be able to catch them.

A great book on graphics is "Computer Graphics : Principles and Practice" by Foley, Dam, & Hughes.
