I try to create a space shooter, like Wing Commander, but it seems that I don''t get aright background. I tried a skysphere but the stars were distorted and if I use a skyboy you see, that your inside a box. Has anybody a few tips for me, how so solve this? Thanks

What API are you using?

You could use some kind of primative particle system for the stars and actually have them represented as in game objects...

Just a thought.

My sig used to be, "God was my co-pilot but we crashed in the mountains and I had to eat him..."
But folks whinned and I had to change it.
Whats wrong with the cube? just don''t use textures that are very dense at the seams. The sphere will look bad because it tends to squash and stretch the texture which looks especially bad with stars.
It''s the textures that make your skybox look bad. I "borrowed" some of the HL skybox star textures ( for testing purposes ) and it looks great, no seems or anything...

Death of one is a tragedy, death of a million is just a statistic.
If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.
This address is mentioned elsewhere, but not in connection with sky(spheres/boxes/whatevers). http://www.uni-karlsruhe.de/~uli2/index.html.

I''ve not had a chance to test it, but I don''t see a problem with the logic.
