Drawing a line in directx 8.1
Hi all. I have just got the nexe tutorial 2 to work so now I have a directx screen. How do I draw simple 2d lines on it? I do not want any 3d in there at all I just want to draw 2d lines onto the screen. I was planning on using direct draw but I am told that this nolonger exists in directx8 and that it has been combined in to direct3d.
I am a complete beginner with directx and have some experience with C++. I hope you can help.

Umm... DirectDraw still exists in DirectX 8 for backword compatability.
That means DirectDraw is still there, but Microsoft have cesed to update it.
If you were going to draw a line (2D) in DirectDraw, you would need some coding to do, and some ectra overhead too . Gogle look for t3dlib.cpp (its Andre LeMoths'' "game engine" and it has DirectDraw rasterizing crap on it).
If oyu were to go and draw lines in Direct3D. You will need to create a vertex bufer and render it using line-strips.
