So what the hell is this C# and VS.NET thing I keep hearing about. I''m guessing C# is some kinda new language. Is there any (free) compilers out there for it?

As a matter of fact, I think there is a free compiler for it that you get if you download the .net framework sdk, which is in of itself free.

Isn''t C# some kind of java-clone?

It''s a lot like Java, yeah. But it has a few extra wrinkles in the syntax that set it apart. It''s a nice language.

If you want to use C# in *nix, take a look at mono. It''s certainly not done yet, but it''s well on its way. (you need MS''s C# compiler to get it set up, as most of mono is itself written in C#)
