OpenGL OpenGL Texture Names

Hello. To ruin my ethos completely.. I am pretty new to OpenGL and graphics programming in general (mostly MUDs and small network based applications). Anyway, I have a texture class which is essentially a struct with a width, height, and texel_data members int, int, and unsigned char[3][] respectively. Once I make the approriate OpenGL calls to bind the color data to a texture name, is it general practice to keep track of the texture object or just forget about it and only worry about the texture name? --Drew Vogel
