hello, i am making a game in flash with 2 buttons that are red and go green when you click them and make a noise like a button. i have "ACTIONSCRIPT" that goes a little something like this. if the mouse is on the button goto frame 2 and stop. the trouble is that i don''t have frame 2 so i don''t know if it weorks. now! can you guys help me out. shall i make a frame 2 or should i use c++. i was going to make it in c++ but i don''t if netscape supports it. so i might make a cd rom with c++ instead but i don''t know how to make buttons. is there a program that will make c++ buttons, green hopefully. if there is i can work out how to make them go red on my own without your help but i nedd the actual button to start with which i need one of you to do. also where can i download c++ from not flash. all the best les baxter

How could we forget?
Please research before posting here, C++ is a programming language, you will rarely see it used on the web apart from maybe cgi programming.
C++ is most often used to create applications, and not parts of webpages.

To make buttons (in a WINDOW!) use the Win 32 API.
Oh dear...you are still so confused (or a very good prankster).

EDIT: Please tell us you are

I am snooping flash, baxters, have you got any hints as to how to use open GL with it? Or is this not poss? I have made some kool FX adapting code made by proffesionals using a 3D thing- swift or something- and making them look different. I didn''t know that this resource was inclusive of the Flash op sys, how do you put the code into actionscript?
I want to do a quake-like engine in Flash, would openGL/swift be any good?

Nice to see someone doing the Flash thing. MX is going to be f***ing awesome, man!

*thx*

Ok, Ill try to be more helpfull:
I think I misunderstood, and you might not be as horrendously confused as I first thought:

You can use C++ in Flash yes, but I have never done this myself.

quote:

shall i make a frame 2 or should i use c++.

What does this mean? To me this translates to:

Shall I draw the other frame of the button, or shall I program it in C++ (i dont understand, could you make this clearer).
Just a guess, but I dont think you need C++, it sounds like you could do it all in Flash without writing a line of code.

Netscape supports Flash, so I dont think there is any reason your Flash wouldnt work if it used C++.

I couldnt edit my last post. What I meant was how do I put c / visual c code into actionscript?

Also, how did you learn Flash. This guy in highschool is saying that you have to go to college, but I have a book for Flash 4 is this ok?

Also (jeez! so many questions) how would you do Quake in Flash and if it is better why would people use c anyway? Which developers use c and which use Flash, make your hollering voices known, people!

Being stimulated by a market that wants game that are SLOWWWWWW

quote:

Its C++. Learn it. Love it. Live it.

6 year olds can learn flash. (Thats true for QBasic too.)

C/C++ is only useful in CGI. Actionscript is something else. I suggest this site:

www.cplusplus.com

and

news://comp.lang.c

(Post something saying "Whats C")

(For everyone else, Im in a bad mood.)

It''s me again! As soon as I''ll register...
But I am confused, one guy says that you *CAN* use c in Flash, and the others diss Baxters? WTF? I want to program this Quake engine (not for a full game) all I want to know is how I do it in Flash. Why would cgi be important? What I want to do is have 3D bumb mapped surfaces.

*who''se in da house?*

i am 28 years old actully.
but thats for me to know and you to find out.

all i want is some c++ directions or some buttons made for me.

yes i agree that flash action script and c++ are similar in many ways but you can import video into flash mx and i think c++ is probably a long way off.

cheers les baxter

What the heck is all this about? What in the wheat are you talking about Baxter? I haven''t understood one single line from yours or any of the replies. Maybe I need to get some sleep.

P.S. Don''t get peed off at people. We just can''t decipher what you''re asking.

Did I read that right? You want to create a Quake engine using Flash? As in Macromedia Flash? Serious? April 1 is still about a week away.

The absolute fact is is that I work in video processing so I don''t know this from that, but this post caught my eye.

Most games ARE developed using a plug-in supported format like Flash or Wild Tangent.

I see no reason why a Quake game couldn''t be authoured in this environment. Especially with processor speeds reaching unprecendented quick fire.

My 2 cents worth, (I never seen this site before so, guys and gals, don''t flame me here!)

Im sorry, I really tried to restrain from doing this but, you need to improve you skills 10x at least, your "MulTiMeDiA design, gif and Flash and asp technology" skills are almost non-existant, and you are giving industry professionals a bad name.
There is nothing of value, and certainly nothing that impresses me on your site.

No, in fact I made a mistake, it impressed me at how FEW hate mail you have received, you only seem to have recieved around 10 e-mails!
E-mails in which you seem to spam people for no apparant reason:
quote:

On Sun, 30 Dec 2001, baxters wrote:

> Hey DOODZ! Allow me to say howdy and introduce, I am Glen Baxter. My

"Dude",

This is most certianly not the correct forum for this kind of
announcement. Please stick to IRC, USENET newsgroups and other places of
illegal media circulation. The works that are discussed here are
typically for paid projects or are things created by people for demo
purposes (eg: resume filler / addtional supporting matter to indicate
skill level) and are most certianly not for public domain use, other than
for entertainment value, as they are games

This seems to be someone replying to your spam e-mail telling you not to do this thing, you reply:
quote:

Hey there mr angry!
To think how upsetting it must have been for people to read my email!!!

Another e-amil:
quote:

>Hey DOODZ!

Um, this is a joke, right?

And why are you always talking about dithering Gifs like its a major technology, its crap! (pardon my French).

So in basic, please:
*Exapand your vocabulary
*Try to be professional, no "doodz!"
*learn more about the subjects, at the moment you dont seem to know the difference between C++ and an image. Oh and when people said CGI they meant common gateway interface, not computer generated images, if that is what you meant.
*explain your problems in detail if you post on gamedev
*dont be stupid.

Once again, very sorry. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
