Some help with 3ds max 4

I have a little problem using the x file export tool (from the msdn.microsoft.com/directx web page) with 3ds max 4. Once I''ve done with the model, export it and everything goes fine, but when I try to open it with the Skinned mesh sample or with the Mesh viewer utility included with the dxSDK 8.1 it doesn''t show the fu..@·$#&! textures!. I applied the UVW texture mapper modifier in the specular level, and, Yes, I''ve collapsed everything to an editable mesh and simply nothing seems to work. Finnally, if someone could tell me how can I create an transparent textured mesh from 3ds Max 4 and export it to X...

I think when you want to use transparent textures you can use opacity map in MAX and then merge the opacity map with your bmp file creating a dds file, and using the dds file for texturing. In this case you have to modify the .bmp extension in the exported X file to .dds extension.
