Lighting with Extended Length Primitives

I''m using lighting and fog in my program, but I am also using a grid of lines that runs all over the map. Only problem is the lighting has trouble with the lines. I assume it is because their vertexes are so far away from where they really show. Is there a way to fix this? I assume this would also be a problem with a skybox, or other huge size primitive object.... Thanks.
