I''m making the title screen for my game and I want it to fade in, wait for 3 seconds, and fade out. I''m using D3D8 and right now the image displays and waits for 3 seconds but then goes to the main menu (it doesn''t fade in or out yet). I''m guessing I have to use Alpha Blending? I''ve never done alpha blending before.

your image is a textured quad (right?)
for the vertices of the quad make sure they have a diffuse colour associated with them.
then edit the alpha value of that diffuse colour to do the fade.
to fade in, go from alpha 0 to alpha 255. to fade out do the reverse. (assuming you have a black background behind the image)

good luck
Toby
