Is Java''s ServerSocket compatible with Winsock? Can they compatible with each other if I use them to establish a TCP communication? i.e. one side using winsock to send data while another is using Java to receive it.

In a word, yes. It was a while ago that I did this but I had success.

Of course! On top of it if your running JAVA on Windows it uses Winsock for it''s network code.

The only problem I had with JAVA and sockets is...
In JAVA anything that is a reader/writer is 16 bit unicode and anything that is a stream is 8 bit. Though JAVA handles everything internaly as 16bit unicode. I had no problem using a reader but when I was using a writer data did not seem to go through...
