hi, i currently play MoHAA, and i was very fascinated in seeing those detailed textures, they look really cool! has someone an idea how they´ve done this? they look like some kind of static bumpmapping.... very, very good and real

How its generally done is you create a low contrast gray texture with the values averaging around 128 and you put it in the second texture stage (sort of like a lightmap), but you use an Add Signed operation rather than a modulate . The idea is that when you get close the detail map shows up, but as you move father away it all just blurs into basically not affecting the texture at all.

no, this is no detail texturing like in unreal, since in MoHAA, if you are near to the walls, etc. the texture gets blurred as usual and no detail map is faded in.

i will post a screenshot later, so you can look at what i mean, i can´t correctly describe this effect, but the textures look rather bumpy.
