how is collsion detection with landscape handled. I can use bounding boxes for normal objects in a scene but what about the ground? i like to walk over bumps and not through them.

Depends on how your landscape data is stored too... if you''re using a height-map, simply finding which quad you''re over, and interpolating between the 4 corners (depending on your exact location in that quad), you can figure out what the height you''re supposed to be at. That''s how I do my lanscape collisions in my engine so far, works great :D
