Hi, I''m working with a three man team and our game is very near completion. The coding, graphics, music and sound effects are all finished. All we have to complete is more levels. Does anyone here know of any budget game publishers for the pc. We know of some, but would like to find more. Even if you just know of one that would help. Thanks.

activision value (don''t know if they accept submissions)
wizard works (don''t know if they accept submissions)
eGames (don''t know if they accept submissions)(doesn''t make profit for a while)

There are not much budget publishers around the world, that work
with submissions anymore. Also most budget publishers are owned by the big boys. Give valusoft a try.

What is your game about?

Try the shareware route...
Thanks for the tips. I''ll be checking them out.

our game is a 2D action puzzle type game. The layout consists mainly of breakable and unbreakable tiles as well as some enemies and simple traps. The object of the game is to get all the gold on a level using various tools to break wall or floor tiles. Once all the gold is collected you can leave through the exit door. The puzzle aspect comes into play when deciding how to use the tools correctly as they can only be used once.

Does anyone else have any tips?
You should try shareware first, you can make some moeny doing that. Most budget publishers will either rip you off, or pay you an absolute pittance, like maybe 10% of the retail price of the product, then you dont know if they are lieing about how many they sold. Its too easy to get ripped off.
Shareware is the best bet for your first game.

I will agree with cliffski. Puzzle games are one of the styles that can do quite well being sold through shareware. However, you cant just upload it to a web site and expect the masses to come. Be prepared to do a little bit or work promoting it. That means getting it listed on the top download sites, contacting some game sites and getting them to review your game, and maybe even taking out a few banner ads in choice locations. Read through the archives of this forum, as there is a lot of good info here. Also check out http://www.dexterity.com/articles/ as there is a lot of good info there too.
