3d game engine

I''ve built a small engine from scratch, and i''d like you to tell me what you think of it. Be HONEST please... You can download the exe here: www.adisoft.ro/downloads/proiect.rar Be aware that the site is not in english... yet! Soon the engine will be able to work in MULTIPLAYER mode... Yours truly.

Looks like it would be nice if I had the hardware to play it. I have a 200Mhz, with an ATI card with no GL support. although I could see it running, the palette was very messed up, and it ran very slowly. Apart from this it looked good, but are you going to make a version that uses Direct3D acceleration?

Well it''s a quite buggy and the graphics is not that good.

But keep working on it, it just might turn out great.

However you really have to use up to date techniques, such as vertex and pixel shaders and such things.

you surely don''t have to face yet pixel and vertex shaders for an engine, you can do very very much without them (and with a much wider hardware support, at least in gl.. on dx everything gets lovely emulated)

connection failed, well then..

textures are not great, but oh well.. i''m only a programmer myself, so all i can do is some random noise textures in photoshop (with sometimes GOOD results.. but only sometimes)

very good collision-detection imho.. i never got through a wall or something, wich is yet quite cool. (have seen a lot of those faults, even in some "real" games sometimes)
but you had some "clipping" problems.. looks like you do some sort of culling, right? did not worked 100%, you should get that bether..

for the rest.. i like it, what you got yet is quite good work, keep on with it, you can get some funny game with it.. now weapons in and enemies


oh, one thing.. some edges matched not 100%.. looked bit like in the old playstationdays.. would be cool if you can fit them together..

Well, about the DX version, maybe later, i am pretty caught up withe the multiplayer, the editor and the site (english + romanian version), so there *should* be some bugs in the model. The crappy textures are so crappy because they were done in 5 minutes (all of them). I noticed some flaws in the model, but it was too late (ok, i was too lazy ), i had to re-edit it in 3dsmax, export it, load it with the editor, process it, save it, and finally test it.
I want to continue working on the engine as soon as i have some spare time (i''ve some exams, and they are anything else but pretty ),anyway i want to include dynamic objects and lighting, some lens flare here and there, scripting, multiplayer, but not sure if in this order.
