Hello, I am looking to start coding a function to load 3D models from .3ds file formats. I dont'' see any tutorials on doing this with OpenGL. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Also I would like to work from some code examples. Thanks

There are hundreds of articles on this site alone which tell you how to load 3ds max objects; it''s one of the most common topics. Why does it have to be geared towards OpenGL? The graphics API is irrelevant; you just write a data structure consisting of vertices and triangles, and you fill it with data from the file.

I''m sure www.gametutorials.com has a tutorial on it and a full working example(in opengl) with source code.

ha-ha-ha

...and exactly where???

(on gametutorials.com:
1. they say there is a full version on some CD-ROM...
2.
there is a downloadable example but it's full of unknown
chunks, it skips animation and referenced objects...)

It's a good start anyway...
And if you understand how to load the rest of the file I don't think it's so hard to figure out how to load the animation info.
