Hi everyone, I don''t know if this is the right forum for this, but I''ve gotten so much helpful information from this spot that I''ll shoot this one to you, too: Does anyone know where I can get a program that will generate bitmaps of roiling fire, like the braziers in Diablo? Ideally, it would just ask me how many frames, and generate a set of bitmaps that can repeat. Alternatively, does anyone know of a good source on fire algorithms? I could write it myself if I HAVE to, but I''d much rather find it already written. Thanks a billion!

In the programming section on GameDev, under the demo effects heading there are a couple fire algo''s you can check out. You could just take screen shots of these programs and use them as bitmaps once you''ve scaled them down, or you can check the source and make your own program and extract the bitmaps however you choose. Or you could make you program use the fire algo in real-time, be generating the fire every frame. But that''d be kinda slow with all the averaging and all. Oh well, just my thoughts.....
