At http://mrl.nyu.edu/~perlin/facedemo/ is a very impressive demonstration of a facial animation system. It''s special because it doesn''t use preset animation sequences - instead the animation is tweened between different states, and a noise function is used to make slight changes in the expression, which really makes the illusion of emotion convincing.
