Anyone who is interested in multi-platform game programming should check out www.openal.org. Apparently they are trying to create an equivalent of OpenGL for audio. I know someone was interested in something like this a few weeks back, and here it is.

Wow!

That''s a fantastic idea. It''s so simple and could really make a difference for all these multi-platform games that are surfacing.

I''ll support OpenAL, as well as OpenGL in my upcoming RPG.
I''m happy to see that something like OpenGL has been made for sound, cause we''ll see cool guys making true platform independent games.
Hope more and more people will forget about DirectX to switch to API that aren''t property of anyone.

Hope the dev will think twice before supporting M$ trust, after all, the public don''t want to see Windows any more on computers.
[ok, some want windows anyway]
:o)
