funny you say that, I just spent an hour of my work time (system admin ) downloading some.

try http://developer.nvidia.com
http://nehe.gamedev.net

though I went to nvidia because I want a comprehensive tutorial. They have so many papers and power point presentations it intense!

I got myself stuff on the the stencil buffer, using it to make shadows, volumetric shadows, quake 2 modelling shadows, spherical refelctions....I just finished DL about 50 mb worth of tutorials and examples!

ekk, 50 MB I think that was a bit exsesive for just the Stencil Buffer. Dang there must be a lot of information in that mountain of presentations!

the NeHe tutorial is very vague about the stencil-buffer, it explains how to do a reflection.

but, from what i understood, and correct me if i am wrong, you can use the stencil buffer to assign a value to a screen-space pixel, and then when rendering again you can tell the stencil buffer to render or not to render a new pixel there according to those values.
