Sounds like he wants to create a lobby application. You first would need to know how to interface with the games in particular... do you know if they are DirectPlay Lobby compatible?

If the game allows you to specify host and connect from the command line, then just pass in the apropriate info as arguments to the game exe (the ip etc). Otherwise it is pretty hard to automate it.

Its got nothing to do with what network library (ie DirectPlay) the game was programmed with internally, you dont have access to games code, you have to rely on command line params.

No, if a game is programmed to be DirectPlay Lobbyable, any DirectPlay Lobby object can launch it. The API supplies a way to channel data from the lobby to the game, such as player info and server info. It also allows the lobby to rcieve updated info about the game to display to people who are browsing.

Very powerful, and it takes very little effort for the original game programmers to set it up if they already use DP for their online gameplay.
