.X Files
I’m using ID3DXMesh to load and renderize skinned mesh in DirectX 8.1, I’d like to know the “rules” of the ID3DXMesh so that it will load and animated files without crashing, M$ demonstration tiny.x is working fine. I tried to renderize animated X (which do not use bones) which I have here but they turned out with many problems in the reading.
The conv3ds.exe from DXSDK 8.1 doesn't convert very well animated .X.
Using:
conv3ds -A my3ds.3ds

The problem could be in conv3ds because, as I know, it''s not a very good tool. Try milkshape with his plugins.
In fact, microsoft have created a plugin for 3dsmax, that can support .x files with skinned mesh. It can be downloaded on Microsoft''s Website, but strangely, it''s not included in the standard DXsDk (Why???). I''ve downloaded it, but it doesn''t it seem to work with my version of 3dsmax. So, someone advised me to try CAL3D, which is an alternative solution to .x files. You can find it on cal3d.sourceforge.net
ERRATA: I''m using ID3DXSkinMesh, ID3DXMesh is used in static meshes only. hehehe.
Ok, I''m going to download the .X plugin... thanks!
