A far better game BASIC (though slightly more expensive - at least for the 3D version) is Blitz Basic.

http://www.blitzbasic.com

The syntax is FAR nicer, with C-style "types" which are basically structs. The 3D engine is much faster and the community is more helpful. Thats my recommendation anyway.

Neither Drak Basic or Blitz Basic is *free*

And well different ppl like different langauges it doesnt mean to say that Blitz is Better then Dark Basic , at the moment I actually USE Dark Basic and I like it , but I dont put down Blitz Basic ESPECIALLY since I have NEVER tried it , although it does look nice, u might wanna take a look into DB and BB and see what u like, both have their limits and DB has a VERY HELPFUL community , thats all I have to say about that

cheers
