Using SDL

I would like to know how to install SDL so that we can use it in programming. I''m a newbie to linux. I don''t know which file I should download and perform installation. thank you very much~

  • Download this.
  • Open a terminal.
  • cd to the directory where you saved that file.
  • Unpack it with tar xvzf SDL-1.2.4.tar.gz.
  • Type cd SDL-1.2.4.
  • Type ./configure.
  • Type make.
  • Go superuser (type su and enter your password).
  • Type make install.

    Now, since I replied to your thread about playing sound, I know that you should repeat this process for SDL_mixer (that''s what you need to play more than basic sound in SDL).

    Besides, I would like to try SDL in Visual C.
    I''ve follow the instructions in visualc.html but it is still failed...
    I''m still a newbie...sorry for that...
