Problem with Direct3DIM and DirectDraw

My problem: I have created a DirectDraw application and now I want to draw a Direct3D scene with the help of DD. I thought that I can initialize DirectDraw and Direct3D (still IM). I created a PrimarySurface and a BackBuffer Surface with DD. I thought that I can now blit the BackBuffer of the 3D scene into the DD BackBuffer. But when I start my application I can only create a DirectDrawDevice OR a Direct3DDevice. I know that therse a function named lpD3D->CreateDeviceFromSurface() but thist function only works with the RM. My question: Is there a similar function for the IM or what is the way for the IM?
